Saydullo
Saydullo grows a variety of agricultural crops. He has ten hectares of land where he mostly grows onions and wheat. In addition, he grows carrots, potatoes and feed crops. Last year's harvest was a success and he was pleased that he successfully sold everything. But he had difficulty with transporting the harvest because he did not have a car. He has been saving up but still does not have enough money. He therefore appealed to Arvand for financial support. Saydullo now wants to re-plant the seeds and hopes that this year will bring a harvest as good as last year's. He has saved a little money to buy a car but it is not enough; therefore, he wants to take out a loan to supplement his savings and buy an inexpensive automobile.

Saydullo is very thankful to KIVA for their financial support and understanding.

About MDO Arvand

MDO Arvand is one of the leading microfinance institutions in Tajikistan, offering small loans to entrepreneurs to start and grow their businesses. This makes an enormous difference in a country, which is not only the poorest in Central Asia, but also home to a population where two-thirds live below the poverty line. Today, Tajikistan's economy literally depends on remittances being sent from family members working abroad in Russia because there are so few local job opportunities.

But Arvand loans have been able to make a difference and change lives. Read about some of the incredible success stories they have seen here in this Kiva blog post: Bringing hope to Tajikistan with Arvand -- one success story at a time.
