Aferdita
Aferdita, twenty-six years old, lives in a minority community in very bad conditions. She is married and the mother of four children between the ages of eight and fifteen years old. All of them are currently attending school. Her husband works by carrying wood by tractor, earning a small income from this business for their family.

Aferdita is now planning to raise and tend to goats, so that she may start to sell milk and other milk products. She is in need of a 600 euro loan to buy seven goats.

The loan will help her to expand and develop her business, and she hopes that these goats will breed, multiplying her numbers to seventeen goats in just a few months.

Her goal is to sell milk and milk products, as well as to breed and sell the goats. In this way, she can improve the living conditions for her family and provide a better quality of life and opportunities for her children. She wants to thank all Kiva lenders.

More information about this loan

This loan will support the economic aspirations of minority people in Kosovo. Roma people and ethnic Serbians have historically faced a tremendous amount of hardship in Kosovo, and are still socioeconomically and politically vulnerable. During the 1998-1999 war, the fighting displaced 250,000 people. Among those displaced were an estimated 80-90% of the region’s Roma population. Today, Roma and ethnic Serbians living in Kosovo still face discrimination and are excluded from many aspects of society, including fair political representation and high rates of unemployment. By supporting this loan you are helping provide opportunity to marginalized populations.
