Living in a rural village of the Thmor Koul district of Battambang province, Kunthea is 39 years old and married with four children, three of whom are dependent on her and still in school. She sells fish while her husband works for others for a fee. Together, they have been engaging in business for ten years. Kunthea is able to earn about 68,000 KHR per day and manages to save about 30,000 KHR each day after daily expenses.
This is the sixth loan for Kunthea with VisionFund. She has successfully used the past loans to better support her family and provide enough food. Now she is requesting a loan of 1,000,000 KHR to buy a proper food cabinet for her family's use. She hopes this loan will enable her to keep enough household supplies for her family to use.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
