Andrea, 60, is a married woman with one child. She lives in Tangub City, Misamis Occidental, in the Philippines. She plants, harvests and sells bananas and coconuts to earn a living. She has been in this business for 20 years and earns 5,000 PHP a month. Andrea has been a member of GDMPC since 2011. She is requesting a loan of 8,000 PHP to purchase fertilizers such as manure. In the future, she hopes to improve her business.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
