Tomas is from Bagakay, Ozamiz City. He is 35 years old, married, and has one child. To make a living, Tomas owns and operates a general store. Tomas been engaged in his business for about 10 years and earns 13,500 PHP a month from these activities. Tomas joined GDMPC in 2009. He has requested a loan of 25,000 PHP, which will be used to buy goods to sell in the community, including sugar, noodles, eggs, cooking oil, shampoo and other daily basic needs. He plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve his family's general living conditions.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
