Mom, aged 42 and divorced, is from the Sampov Meas district of Pursat province. She has four children, only two of whom depend on her as they are still at school. To overcome the family's financial hardship, she grows rice on five hectares of farmland and sells vegetable and meat. She has seven years' experience in this business and is able to earn up to 27,900 KHR per day.
Mom has never been involved with VisionFund and she is applying for 1,500,000 KHR in order to buy rice seeds. She hopes to make more income from her business so that, in turn, she can set aside some money to further her income by running a small café and a stall at her home which sells grocery items.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
