A single woman living in the Sampov Meas district of Pursat province, Nuon is 32 years old and makes a daily living through rice growing and vegetable growing (cucumbers, beans, and wax gourds). She is able to earn up to 17,300 KHR per day from the current businesses that she has been involved in for 20 years. The past loan was her original loan with VisionFund, Kiva’s partner. She has smartly used the loan, which she has repaid back, to keep up a good pace of her crop husbandry. This is her third loan cycle and she is seeking 4,000,000 KHR. She is going to spend her loan to plow her three hectares of farmland. She hopes that she can grow her rice timely and get back double the yield so as she can grow her business larger than it is now.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
