Residing in a rural village of the Ponhea Krek district of Kampong Cham province, Saret is aged 49 years and married. She has six children. To support the family, she and her husband have been farming rice and planting cassava. Sometimes, they work for others for a fee to better support their family. After engaging in this business for 30 years, she has been able to earn about 46,000 KHR per day and managed to save about 20,000 KHR each day after daily expenses.

Saret has been with VisionFund for three cycles. She has successfully paid back her previous loans which have helped her relieve her family’s burden, and improved their livelihood. She is now leading her group of three to apply for a loan. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy materials for renovating her old house. She hopes this loan will enable her to have a decent house for to live in.

The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
