Lon, 55 years old, resides in the Kandal Stoeng district in Cambodia. He is married and has nine children, two of whom are still under his responsibility and currently in school. To make a living, Lon and his wife have a business farming rice, the business in which they have been involved for more than 20 years. This will be Lon’s second time requesting a loan from VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). The past loan enabled him to send his children to school, which makes him very satisfied. Lon is now applying for a new loan with VisionFund of 1,000 USD to purchase a decent motor for his children. After receiving and wisely using the loan, Lon hopes that he will be able to help make the transportation of his beloved children easier.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
