Belly is a 53-year-old single mother with one child and lives in San Isidro Sinacaban, the Philippines. She sells a variety of products to earn a living and has had this business for 10 years. Each month, she earns 1600 Philippines pesos (PHP) doing this type of work.
Belly has requested a loan for 14,000 PHP to purchase additional products such as canned goods, noodles, beverages and detergents. She has been a member of PMPC for three years. In the future, she hopes to improve and expand her business.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
