Miraflor is 40 years old, married and the mother of two children. She lives in Bitibut, Sapang Dalaga, Misamis Occidental, where she has earned a living for the last three years by selling new and used products people use in their homes. She makes PHP 5,000 a month and is applying for a loan for PHP 10,000 to buy additional products to sell, including canned goods, noodles, sugar and coffee. She joined GDMPC last year as a way to improve her family's living conditions.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
