Residing in a rural village of the Dambae district in Cambodia’s Kampong Cham province, Mao is 28 years of age and married. To offer a decent life to her family, Mao has been farming rice, planting cassava and also selling grocery items. They have been in this business for eight years.
Mao has been with VisionFund for two loan cycles and completely paid back the previous loan, which helped her better support her family’s business. Now she is applying for another loan of 2,000,000 KHR to buy fertilizer for her farmland. She hopes to grow her rice healthfully and fruitfully so as to make a better living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
