Wafik is a 42-year-old Lebanese married man living with his wife and three children. They are all attending school. He has been working as a painter for many years in order to supplement his income and be able to better support his family. It is often not enough to have an office salary or small shop to cover the increasing costs of food, housing, and other family expenses. This is the reason why Wafik is working really hard to be able to take bigger projects. He is requesting today to borrow a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to replace his old car with a new one with the intention of increasing his business productivity and therefore his profits. He is very confident that he will be able to achieve considerable growth in the coming season and hopes that the loan will help him increase his income by 15%.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
