Erlinda, age 67 and widowed, runs a general store business to earn a living. She has operated her business for 10 years. Each month, she earns PhP 3,000 doing this type of work. She and her husband have five children and live in Locsoon, Tudela, Philippines.
Erlinda has requested a loan in the amount of PhP 14,900 to purchase additional products to sell in her store, such as canned goods, noodles, beverages, and detergents. Erlinda has been a member of PMPC for eight years.
In the future, Erlinda hope to better financially support her immediate family members.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
