Stephen is a fifty-year-old man with 7 children living in Bundibugyo, Uganda. He has been cocoa farming since 1997 and also has a retail shop for extra income. Unpredictable price changes and pests affect his business profits, while his business plan is to expand his cocoa plantation. Stephen intends to use the loan to buy general merchandise such as sugar and rice to sell and also to pay workers who are harvesting his cocoa plantation.

This loan is part of HOFOKAM's program targeting poor and geographically excluded populations in Western Uganda. In addition to loans, it provides social and business training programs to low-income entrepreneurs and their communities.
