On his own initiative and with much effort and dedication, Jorge works as a field hand on an agricultural estate in his city. He works every day starting in the very early hours of the morning and can work for about 8 hours daily. He feels good doing his work and thinks he does well because of the good work he does and the kind way he treats others.
Jorge is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to the support provided he will be able to buy building materials and supplies like lumber, matting, plastic, beams, etc. that will be very useful for him to do some home improvements since the façade on his house is currently of matting and not very secure. He will thus be able to continue working and striving to continue forward alongside his family and to become a good professional.

About Housing Loans
Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
