Luz Marina is originally from San Rafael del Sur, a town in Nicaragua. She is a saleswoman and has a shop where she sells assorted basic products for the home and also cosmetics and Avon products like perfume, body lotion, shampoo, and deodorant.
Luz started her business with her own savings. She would visit people she knew and offer them her products. She was very successful, so she decided it was time to invest in more merchandise, but she didn't have enough capital, so she took out her first loan with Ceprodel so that she could cover her customers' demand. Then she decided to set up a shop at home in order to obtain higher income and advertise her products more.
She is married and has two children who are in school, so she uses her profits to pay for their education. They live in their own home, wich is small and humble but full of love.
Currently Luz needs a loan to invest in more products for her business. "I feel great working with you because I have seen myself grow as a person and as a businesswoman."

This loan is administered by Centro de Promocion del Desarrollo Local (CEPRODEL), one of Kiva’s larger partners in Central America. Founded in 1991 and based in Managua, Nicaragua, CEPRODEL specializes in the development and funding of housing cooperatives for traditionally marginalized communities, the provision of microfinance services to small businesses, and the promotion of innovative renewable energy projects. In addition, unlike many microfinance institutions in the area that have chosen to avoid the rural areas of the country due to the increased financial risk, CEPRODEL provides financial services to numerous clients in the agriculture and livestock industry. Supporting a borrower through CEPRODEL means contributing to the promotion and sustainability of this important work in Nicaragua.
