Susana, 45, is a married mother of five kids living in Clarin, Misamis Occidental, where she runs a general store to earn a living. She has been engaged in this business for 12 years and earns 10,000 PHP (Philippines pesos) each month from this work.
Susana has requested a loan of 15,000 PHP from GDMPC to buy more items such as eggs, noodles, shampoo, soap and toothpaste. She became a member of GDMPC in 2011. In the future, Susana hopes to expand her retail business and to gain more profits.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
