Unfortunately, due to a lack of financial resources and the need to begin working, Katherine was not able to study a professional nursing degree, but she would have really liked to do so. She likes to read in her free time, and sometimes she cooks a delicious rice and chicken dish to share with her family.
On her own initiative and with plenty of effort and dedication, Katherine works in her small business selling clothing. She also rents out costumes. She works every day for 8 hours, beginning in the early morning. She is happy with her work and she believes that it is going well due to the friendly manner in which she treats her clients.
Katherine is very grateful for the Kiva lenders because thanks to their help, she will be able to buy construction materials such as cement, bricks, and sand, among others. She would like to finish the construction of a room in her home. She will then be able to provide better security and well-being for her family. She will continue working and striving to make her greatest dream come true: to expand her business and own a large store.

About Housing Loans
Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
