Residing in a rural area of Kror Kor district in Cambodia's Pursat province, Pheoun is 58 years of age and married. She is also a mother of four children. Pheoun supports her family through farming rice on a four-hectare plot of land, earning around 5.9 USD per day. She is a second-time borrower with VisionFund (Kiva's partner). The past loan has helped her to buy household supplies. Now, Pheoun is requesting a USD 1,100 loan to expand her rice-growing business by purchasing more plots of land. After receiving and wisely using the requested loan, Pheoun believes that she can generate more profit for the family.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
