Marcia De Jesús
In the Santa Rosa del Peñón municipality Marcia de Jesús is a young woman who is known to be responsible, honest, and devoted to her work. She lives in a precious town in the León department where people devote themselves to different business activities.

Marcia, age 33, was born in this beautiful municipality. Her hard-won salary covers the daily support of her household. She is a municipal employee, and she works as a cashier. She is a single mother with three children under her care. She figures that her family is growing, and she wants to build a small room from wood and bricks so that her children are able to sleep a bit more comfortably.

She will use the loan to buy cement, sand, and bricks. She calculates that by the end of the year her house will be better. However, she needs this type of loan from Ceprodel and Kiva. At this time she has good health, the capacity to work, and integrity.

She thanks God for having led her to Ceprodel and Kiva so that they will continue giving her a friendly hand.

This loan is administered by Centro de Promocion del Desarrollo Local (CEPRODEL), one of Kiva’s larger partners in Central America. Founded in 1991 and based in Managua, Nicaragua, CEPRODEL specializes in the development and funding of housing cooperatives for traditionally marginalized communities, the provision of microfinance services to small businesses, and the promotion of innovative renewable energy projects. In addition, unlike many microfinance institutions in the area that have chosen to avoid the rural areas of the country due to the increased financial risk, CEPRODEL provides financial services to numerous clients in the agriculture and livestock industry. Supporting a borrower through CEPRODEL means contributing to the promotion and sustainability of this important work in Nicaragua.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
