Peter is a 49-year-old farmer who lives in Nkubu county, Kenya with his wife and three children. Two of the children are still in school. Peter has been in farming for the past eleven years producing coffee, bananas and other fruits, and vegetables, which he sells at his local market.
Peter is requesting a KES75,000 loan from Juhudi Kilimo to purchase water tanks for irrigation, which will help him in grow more produce. This will lift his living standards and he can use some of the money to pay for his children's schooling. He also aspires to have purchased one acre of land in the next five years.
Dry spells, pests and diseases are his major challenges in farming.
Peter says Juhudi Kilimo offers the best services for its clients.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
