A loan of $2,300 helped a member to buy nappies.

Jardin De Rosas Group's story

The “Jardin de Rosas” (“rose garden”) communal bank will begin its eleventh cycle with "Pro Mujer", through the Los Andes regional office. Made up of eleven members, the Jardin de Rosas group is directed by a board presided over by Marlene. The members of this communal bank have various types of businesses offering services that include: knitting blankets, selling CDs, selling babies’ clothing, blanket making, selling artisan products, selling fried potatoes and hot dogs, upholstery and a neighbourhood shop.

This loan will benefit micro businesses in Marlene's group. She says that she has been with Pro Mujer for four years, having joined following an invitation from her mother who was already a member of the communal bank. She currently has a business selling nappies, which she says she started with the support of a friend.

This loan will be used to buy nappies from the shops in the city of El Alto to sell on herself. This type of work allows her to generate financial resources for her family. She has a partner and two children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responds that she likes the health education.

In this group: Marlene Maria, Edelberta, Beatriz, Addy Wendy, Fermina , Inocencia, Carmen , Gabina Concepción, Nancy, Silvia , Maria Isabel
