42-year-old Rosa is a mother and head of her family. She has one son, who is eight years old. Because she is a single mother, she has had to glean the daily bread for herself and her family. Thanks to the collaboration of her mother, she has been able to get ahead. She worked for more than six years in a gift store, where she learned the trade. Later, she decided to leave and start her own business with the savings she had managed to accumulate. Currently, this business is her only source of income, which is why she is looking to generate more profit that will allow her to improve her and her parents’ living conditions. For this reason, she finds herself requesting a loan that she will invest in the purchase of stuffed animals and greeting cards with the aim of increasing her sales.
Her biggest dream is to be able to share each moment with her parents and her son who are the motor that pushes her each day to be better.

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
