Margarita is from Sto. Niño, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur. She's 40, married, and has three children. To make a living, Margarita runs a fruit business, selling a variety of fruit products in the local community. Margarita has been engaged in her business for nine years and earns 16,000 PHP a month. In 2011, Margarita joined GDMPC. Margarita asked for a loan of 20,000 PHP, which will be used to purchase additional fruit to sell. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve and expand her business.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
