Amalia is 45 years old, married and the mother of two children. She lives in Alindahaw, Tukuran, where she has earned a living for the last 12 years by selling home use products. Amalia makes PHP 5,000 a month and is applying for a loan of PHP 10,000 to purchase additional products like canned goods, noodles, sugar and coffee. Amalia joined GDMPC this year as a way to improve her family's living conditions.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
