Scovia is a 42-year-old, married woman with five children, living in Kasese, Uganda. For 15 years, she has been selling salt and, with the profits, she has been able to build rentals and pay school fees for her children. Her major dream is to process the salt, so as to add to the value and bargain for a better price.
Scovia has a salt pan where she mines. She also buys from other miners to meet the high demand. The health hazards associated with salt mining pose a great challenge to her life and employees since she does not have protective gears. Scovia intends to use the loan to buy salt to sell.
