Luz Yaneth
Luz Yaneth is 43 years old. She is a warrior who has forged her way in life through struggles and effort. She is a mother of three children, of whom two are still minors. After a family crisis, Luz saw a need to start working. She decided to sell products from a catalog to family and friends, because due to her lack of education, many doors were closed to her in the companies where she presented her resume.

After many years and with the savings that she managed to accumulate, she took a risk and opened a stationery shop. She works daily from 7:00 in the morning until 8:00 at night.

She is applying for a loan to buy toys, taking advantage of the month of December, in which the purchase of Christmas gifts intensifies. She hopes to provide her children with the opportunity to go to university, because she is sure that this is the best gift she can offer them.

Important Information

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
