Muhamudou
Muhamudu is aged 51, but has still been renting a house for his second wife. This has proved expensive since they have many children, being Muslim, so he always has to rent a big house which is expensive. From the taxi which is his business, he has been able to educate all his 14 children but since some of them are completing school, he has used some of the income from the taxi to finally build a house for his wife and children. He therefore needs the loan to do flooring and plastering of the house which will soon be habitable and save him the burden of renting. He believes the money from the vehicle transport will help him pay back the loan. Muhamudu is standing in front of the house he wants to complete.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
