Shazia's Group
In this Group: Shazia , Tahira, Naseem, Asia, Tahira, Shaheen
Shazia is 37 years old and a very hardworking and independent woman. She is living in Punjab, Pakistan, with her husband, daughter and son. Both of the children are students. Her husband is a painter and his income is insufficient to meet the household expenses.

Shazia owns a small beauty salon at her home. Through her small business, she is trying to help her husband to meet the household expenses. She is an efficient and responsible beautician. Currently she is in need of purchasing a variety of cosmetic and beauty products, like straightener, make up kits, facial creams, etc., but due to the lack of finances and savings she can't purchase them.

For that reason, Shazia, as a member of a six-person lending group, has requested a loan from Kiva's partner BRAC Pakistan. On getting a profit, first of all she will repay the loan amount to Kiva and then she wants to build a new room in the salon, as the space in the salon is much too congested. She hopes that her business grows more. She is very much thankful to both Brac Pakistan and Kiva.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
