This is Alice, resident of Tiribe, Mombasa Kenya. She is married to a businessman and a mother to her children. She together with her husband manages their household while operating the business. At this time, she is working hard to continually provide income for their everyday expenses.
Alice operates a variety store which is basically a small convenience store, which retails groceries, toiletries and beverages piecemeal to the local neighborhood. It is the place to go to buy one sachet of shampoo, cooking oil, or an egg. She earns by getting supplies at wholesale prices and selling by piece. Her regular customers are her neighbors and the local community. She earns a minimum of Kes 500 in sales every day.
In addition to this business, she is also a farmer where she grows a variety of vegetables and flowers for sell.Thanks to her children who assist her which gives her room to visit her farm.
To help her continue operations of her business, she is requesting a Kes 30,000 loan. She will be utilizing the loan to buy groceries, toiletries and beverages to expand her product inventory. She expects a boost in her business income as she expands her business.

This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
