Originally from the Sampov Meas district of Cambodia, Vutha is 32 years old and married. He has three children to cater to, as all of them are still young. To deal with the financial hardship, he grows rice with the support of his wife. During their spare time, the couple also works for others for a fee for extra income.
Vutha's current income is 21,800 KHR per day. This is the first loan for Vutha with Kiva Field Partner, VisionFund. This loan cycle, he is seeking 2,000,000 KHR. He is going to spend his entire portion on his rice farm, purchasing four sacks of fertilizer and paying the leasing fee of a mini-tractor, plus the harvesting fee.
Vutha hopes to gain more crop yield so that he can run a small grocery stall for additional income.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
