An inhabitant from Kror Kor district of Pursat province and a mother of four children, Siv is a local farmer who grows rice on two hectares of farmland. Her husband helps to make more income through producing brown sugar from sugar palm juice. From the current business, she is able to earn up to 22,500 Riels (KHR) per day. Siv's past loan was the original loan with VisionFund (Kiva's partner). She has used it in a smart manner to upgrade her living conditions and managed to save some money for her needs in the future. Now, she is seeking 3,000,000 KHR to add to her savings in order to buy a decent motorbike for supporting her business. She hopes that this purchase will help her to reduce transportation expenses that she used to have.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
