Fatuma is a widow and the mother of five children. In 2002, she opened her own grocery store to help her husband make their living. Fatuma is a hard worker with a very good reputation.
Today, Fatuma is applying for a loan from Kiva's partner Yehu. She wants to buy new merchandise for her business, in order to increase the variety of products she sells. Fatuma is always responsive to her customers' requests in order to keep them loyal and pleased. She hopes to turn her shop into a supermarket and she is willing to open a bakery in the future.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
