The association called "Estrellas de Mar" has worked with Pro-Mujer for several years and has completed 9 credit cycles. They are located in the Villa Adela zone, in the city of El Alto and currently have 18 members, and have shown that they are a well-organized group with their credit.

The majority in the group are married with children, almost all school-age. There are a few cases in which, for lack of economic resources, unfortunately their children had to abandon their studies and now stay at home taking care of their younger siblings.

There are different businesses within the association, such as: sales of clothing, sale of milk products, sale of lingerie; but the main activity is sewing curtains, coverings for chairs and furniture upholstery. After completing their work, they sell only by order since they do not have any stand or exhibit space to show their work.

The "Estrellas de Mar" association says they need capital to rent stands or spaces in commercial zones, which will enable them to be more profitable. In addition, they need to be able to buy better-quality materials so their products have higher quality, and in this way they can get more customers and, in turn, have better earnings. Their main objective is to improve their economic situation and to be able to give their children a better quality of life, mainly an education.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
