Joshua is 34 years old and lives in Kenya with his wife and three children, two of whom are in school. He has been a farmer for the past six years and produces milk, sugarcane, and tea which he sells to people in his local area. Joshua also works as a driver as an additional source of income. His major business challenge is the poor road network.
Joshua is requesting a 60,000 KES loan from Juhudi Kilimo to purchase a dairy cow to give him additional milk which will result in more income. He will use the profits from his loan to uplift his living standards and pay for his children's schooling. In the future, Joshua aspires to have his own public transport vehicle in the next five years. He is very grateful to Juhudi Kilimo for funding his loan.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
