Perla of Tuburan, Villaflor, Oroguieta has been raising pigs for more than 5 years and earns 4,000 PHP per month. She is 56 years old now, yet continues to hang on to her piggery livelihood to give her 3 children an adequate life. In order to enhance her livestock upon selling, she is borrowing an amount of 18,000 PHP from GDMPC micro credit to purchase feeding supplies. Perla became a member of GDMPC in 2008. Perla hopes that some day, her children will be successful in their careers.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
