Association Kumi works with Pro-Mujer in the area of Alto Lima in the city of El Alto. They hope to keep their own activities to improve their lives, the group is formed by 13 members, that worked with Pro-Mujer for the past two years, proving to be very organized and responsible in their activities.

Almost all of them with their families pay about 500 Bs. ($69 approximately) minimum for rent, an amount they work very hard to reach. They dream with buying their own house for their children. There are several activities on the association, like bread production, bed sheets and clothing production, which is the main one. They usually sell their products on credit, so they need to have capital for production. Short time ago they received an order to produce uniforms for a bank, so they are soliciting a loan in order to buy materials to produce them. They want to increase their income to get financial stability for their homes and save money enough to buy their own house some day.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
