In the city of El Alto there is the association called “Águilas de Oro” (Golden Eagles) that works with Pro-Mujer very responsibly, they are a very likeable and united group. Most of them are married with kids, their husbands’ salaries are not enough to support them; therefore they work to support their homes. They have several different activities like beauty products sales, cell phone and other appliances repair shops, but the principal activity is the production and sales of delicious hand made chocolates (filled with fruits, coconut, chocolate bars, and in animal shapes) that are later on sold on the streets and at open markets in the city of La Paz. Their goal is to increase their capital to buy better quality packaging and improve the presentation of their products so they can reach more demanding markets and buy more supplies to increase their production, so they can create more income for the good of their children.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
