Anabela
Anabela is 19 years old, single, and lives in Sololá with her parents and four siblings. They all work together to develop the family.

She is a hardworking woman who farms and raises carrots, potatoes, cabbage, and thyme on family land located a few steps from her home. She learned this from her parents when she was small, now she works half a day and studies to become an elementary school teacher during the other half. She’s been working in the fields for a year to support her parents and so that she can finish her last year of school. She wants to start her own crop as a primary source of income.

She has seen good profits from her crops and wants to expand, so she is asking for a loan of Q 3,500 to buy carrot seed and fertilizer that she needs in order to have successful crops and sales. This will increase her and her family’s income.

She has a dream to expand her crops, helping her family, and improving her living conditions. She also wants to support her siblings so that they can finish their schooling.

Anabela es una joven de de 19 años de edad. Ella es soltera y vive en Sololá junto a sus padres y sus cuatro hermanos que trabajan juntos apoyando el desarrollo de la familia.

Ella es una mujer trabajadora que actualmente se dedica a la agricultura cultivando zanahoria, papa, repollo y tomillo en parcelas que tienen con la familia a unos pasos de su vivienda. Esto lo aprendió de sus padres desde niña ahora ella trabaja la mitad del día y la otra mitad estudia maestra de educación primaria. Tiene un año de trabajar en el campo de la agricultura como independiente apoyando a sus padres económicamente para que ella pueda terminar el último año del colegio. De ese modo decide emprender su propio cultivo convirtiéndose en su principal fuente de ingresos.
Ella Ha visto que las ganancias que le generan estos cultivos son buenas, de este modo quiere ampliar su cultivo solicitando un préstamo de Q 3,500.00 para la compra de semillas de papa y zanahoria así como el fertilizante que necesita para cultivar y luego tener ventas exitosas mejorando sus ingresos junto a su familia.
Ella tiene como sueño seguir ampliando su cultivo ayudando a su familia y mejorar condiciones de vida, también apoyar a sus demás hermanos para que sigan estudiando y terminar una carrera académica.

ADICLA's youth entrepreneurship loans allow young people without prior credit histories to borrow in groups, an opportunity that is not offered by many other microfinance institutions in Guatemala. The loans will be used to help them start small businesses.

ADICLA (Association for the Holistic Development of the Basin of Lake Atitlán) is nonprofit rural community development association that provides small loans and services to improve quality of life in two of the poorest regions of Guatemala, home to large indigenous populations. Kiva funding will be used to support three innovative credit initiatives: youth business loans, green loans, and smaller loans to help ADICLA move down-market and serve poorer clients.
