Sinoern, 27, lives in a rural village of Kampong Cham province’s Ou Reang Ov district, Cambodia. She is married and has one son to take care of who is still too young for school. For the last two years, Sinoern has been working as a rice farmer, while her husband is a paid construction worker. Her current business earns her family approximately US$10 per day and she manages to save about US$4 each day after offsetting daily expenses.
Sinoern has just joined with VisionFund this cycle. She is seeking a loan of US$1,000. With this loan, she is going to buy a plot of farmland to expand her rice-paddy business. She hopes to get a high yield from her paddy business to make a better living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
