Maria is from Gango, Ozamis City. She is 50 years old, married and has four children. Maria raises coconut. During harvests, she will produce copra and then sell it. The coconut shells will be used in making charcoal. She has been engaged in her business for 15 years and earns 8,000 PHP a month.
Maria joined GDMPC in 2010. Maria is requesting a loan of 36,500 PHP, which will be used to pay for labor employed in post-harvest handling. She plans to use the additional revenue generated by using the loan, to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
