A resident from a rural area of the Bakan district of Pursat province, Taim is aged 44 years and has been married for five years. For the last 21 years, she has been farming rice to make a living, while her husband is a paid worker, to help generate income. The current business earns her about KHR25,000 per day and she manages to save about KHR13,000 each day for her family's future needs.
Taim has been a member of VisionFund for three cycles already and she completely paid back the past loans, which have helped relieve her family's burden and improve their livelihood. Now requesting another loan of KHR4,000,000, Taim will use this loan to pay off her pledged farmland with a local money lender. This loan will enable her to own her farmland so that she can continue to make her living with rice farming. She hopes to make her living better.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
