Catherine is a resident of the Changamwe area of Coast Province, Kenya. She is married and has three children. Catherine owns a retail shop, selling foodstuffs like sugar, bread, milk, and soap. It is a business that she has been running for seven years. She received the start-up capital from her husband, whose formal employment also provides income for the family.
She learnt about Milango from other clients and joined the institution with the aim of accessing credit to improve the operations of her business. Her main challenges are the high costs of stock and bad debts. She desires to own a wholesale shop in the future.
Catherine is applying for a loan of 31,500 KES to purchase flour, cooking oil, sugar, and other items. The extra income from the loan will be added to her savings to improve her living standards. She aspires to own other centers and pay for her child’s education with much security.
