Age 32, Doeun is a married mother of three children residing in a rural village in the Thmor Koul district of Battambang province, where crop farming is a common way to earn a living. Like other villagers, Doeun is a rice farmer in her local area to support her family. She has been in this business for about ten years. The main challenge for her family’s business is a lack of working capital.
Doeun has been a member of VisionFund for three cycles, and she has completely paid back her past loans from VisionFund. To face her challenge, she is requesting another loan from VisionFund, of US$250. She will use this loan to buy fertilizer for her farmland. With this loan, she hopes to increase her crop yields and sell them for a good profit to allow her to live better.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
