José Dolores
In the municipality of Santa Rosa del Peñón, a beautiful city located in the León region, different economic activities take place. There, José Dolores, a young man, is known as an honorable, responsible, honest and hardworking person.

José Dolores is thirty-one years old; he was born and raised in this municipality and works as a primary-school teacher for the Ministry of Education. He has two children to take care of and his wife does not work, she takes care of the household chores.

With the little money he makes as a teacher, he is not able to build a small annex to his house. His dream is to expand it, since they were fewer when they started, but they are four now. His house is small and needs to be expanded in order to live more comfortably. This is why he is requesting a loan from Ceprodel and Kiva.

He will use this loan to buy cement, sand and bricks and to pay for labor costs. His biggest dream is to build a bedroom that will improve the quality of life of his family. He expects that by next year, his house will be in better conditions, but for this he needs the loan from Ceprodel and Kiva. At the moment, he only has his good health, his capacity to work and his honesty.

"Firstly, I want to thank God for helping me to find Ceprodel and Kiva, as they will continue to give me the help I need."

Founded in 1991 and based in Managua, Nicaragua, CEPRODEL specializes in the development and funding of housing cooperatives for traditionally marginalized communities, the provision of microfinance services to small businesses, and the promotion of innovative renewable energy projects. In addition, unlike many microfinance institutions in the area that have chosen to avoid the rural areas of the country due to the increased financial risk, CEPRODEL provides financial services to numerous clients in the agriculture and livestock industry. Supporting a borrower through CEPRODEL means contributing to the promotion and sustainability of this important work in Nicaragua.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
