Sreymao is a citizen living in a rural village of Pursat province’s Kror Kor district in Cambodia. She is 26 years of age and married with one chile who is too young for schooling. To make a living, Sreymao works as a weaver and rice farmer. To increase her family's income, she also has a pig-raising business. Sreymao is able to earn KHR28,000 per day. This is Sreymao’s first time requesting a loan via VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She is applying for a KHR4,000,000 loan to buy a cow to help in her rice-growing business. She believes that, after receiving the loan and using it in a smart manner, she can earn more income from her rice-growing business. She is willing to use the income to move her family ahead and send her child to school in the future.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
