Abdallah is a 45-year-old Lebanese married man living with his wife. They have two school-aged children. Both Abdallah and his wife are cooperating together, hoping to bring added income to the family and cover their children’s study fees. He has owned a bakery since 2010. He works hard to be able to handle the heavy costs of living. As for his wife, she’s a volunteer at the Lebanese Red Cross.
Abdallah's freshly prepared goods are enjoyed by members of his village and neighboring towns. With his requested loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l, he will purchase added raw materials and perform needed maintenance on his oven. In that way, he will be able to increase his productivity, therefore his sales and thus his income. He is optimistic and always thinks positively about the future of his business.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
