Yolanda is a 38-year-old resident of Poblacion 1, Clarin, Misamis Occidental. She provides for her four children's needs from the little amount of 8,000 PHP she gains monthly from her own piggery business that she has been managing for five years as an aid to the income gained from her husband. However, in 2009 she became a member of GDMPC, and she applied for a loan at GDMPC in the amount of 10,000 PHP to buy feeding supplies. She wants to make an expansion to her business one day.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
