Amina lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is single with four children, two of whom attend school. She also looks after her parents.
She has been selling charcoal in the market at retail for seven years, working seven days a week. She does not have an additional source of income.
She has requested a loan of 300,000 UGX from MCDT- SACCO to enable her buy more sacks of charcoal for sale. Her challenges include high transport costs and seasonality. Her dreams are to expand her business, accumulate profits so she can eventually stop borrowing, and own a delivery van to facilitate transportation. She joined MCDT because she wanted funds to boost her business. She stays in a rented house without access to electricity but with piped water. Her major monthly expenses include rent and school fees.
